For more than 25 years, Jim was on the editorial staff of Keyboard, a monthly magazine for musicians. His boss during the first part of his tenure was Jim Crockett, whom long-time Valley residents may remember as the owner of Books Universal in Livermore. During his years at Keyboard he wrote hundreds of detailed product reviews of synthesizers and other music gear, dozens of artist interviews and tutorial articles, and about 2,000 record reviews. He was also the magazine’s copy-editor.
Currently (toward the end of 2019), Jim is shopping a fantasy/mystery hybrid called Substitute Girl to literary agents and working on a new cozy mystery with a noir spin. In his spare time he has been known to critique friends’ novel manuscripts and provide paid copy-editing services.
