Sarah is a freelance outdoor writer and poet who loves exploring the Golden State’s natural wonders. She started writing articles for professional magazines in high school, publishing her first story at seventeen years old. Since then, she has published fourteen articles in a number of magazines including The Pointing Dog Journal, Pheasants Forever, California Waterfowl, Western Wildlife, Outdoor California, and Mary Jane’s Farm.
Another of Sarah’s passions is writing poetry. Two of her poems, “Desert Storm” and “Wolves on a Winter Night,” made it into the 2016 Las Positas Anthology: Sparks. “Wolves on a Winter Night” won second place in the poetry division that year. In 2017 four of her poems, “Crisis,” “My Zumba Maestro,” “Marbled Murrelets,” and “Ignored Masterpiece,” and one prose piece, “Taking a Life,” appeared in the Las Positas Anthology: Beyond the Window.
Sarah served both as Managing Editor of the Las Positas College magazine and the 2017 Las Positas Anthology.
In the spring of 2018, Sarah received her Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts: Language Arts from Las Positas. Her educational plans include transferring to CSU East Bay and pursuing a Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies: Teacher Prep. She plans to teach elementary school. Her dream is to teach language arts to children and inspire them to a lifetime of writing.
